Our programmes

Next Harvest

Young people leave rural communities because there is no income at home, not because they dislike farming. Next Harvest is being designed as a route to a living at home.

In design. This programme has not started yet and has no participants. It will begin when funding is in place.

A pathway in three stages

With mentoring all the way through.

  1. TrainingFree training in farming, record-keeping and running an enterprise.
  2. Paid field workA paid placement as a CANWYF field coordinator, enrolling farmers and recording farm visits in their own community.
  3. An enterpriseSupport to start a business of their own, in farming or in work that serves farmers.

Building on what works

Our field coordinators are already young people, trained and paid to work in their own communities. Next Harvest will turn that into a clear path from training to paid work to an enterprise of their own.

Fund the first group

If your organisation supports youth employment or rural enterprise, we would like to talk. Young people can register interest in coordinator work now.
