This Privacy Policy applies to the CANWYF website at canwyf.org and the iTONA AFRICA platform at app.canwyf.org, operated by the Community Advocacy Network for Women, Youth and Farmers (CANWYF), a CAC Incorporated Trustee registered in Nigeria.

1. Who We Are

CANWYF (Community Advocacy Network for Women, Youth and Farmers) is a CAC-registered Incorporated Trustee based in Araromi Ekiti, Ijero Local Government Area, Ekiti State, Nigeria. We operate the iTONA AFRICA agricultural traceability and rural finance platform and the Ecovitalize Africa ecological restoration programme.

2. What Data We Collect

On this website (canwyf.org)

Contact form submissions (name, email, message)
Donation and membership registration data (name, email, phone, organisation)
Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited (via server logs)
No tracking cookies are set by default on this website

In the iTONA AFRICA platform (app.canwyf.org)

Farmer identity data: full name, NIN (stored as a one-way hash), village, gender, age category
Farm data: GPS coordinates, plot size, crop type, planting and harvest records
Proof of Visit data: GPS location of Coordinator at time of visit, audio recordings in Ekiti Yoruba, photographs
Coordinator data: name, phone number, village, device identifier
Financial data: AgroWallet NGN balance, mobile money number (encrypted), forward contract records

3. How We Use Your Data

Farmer verification: GPS and visit data are used to verify farmer identities and generate Oba Seal credentials.
Market access: Verified farmer profiles are displayed on AgroMarket for buyer matching with farmer consent.
Impact reporting: Aggregated, anonymised data is used in donor impact reports and grant applications. Individual farmers are only identified in personalised donor impact cards with their explicit consent.
Programme improvement: Soil, weather, and yield data are used to improve the Farm Intelligence Portal and Ecovitalize Africa interventions.
Donor communications: Contact data submitted via this website is used to send impact updates. You may unsubscribe at any time.

4. Data Sharing

CANWYF does not sell personal data. We share data only in these circumstances:

iTONA Verification Portal (canwyf.org/verify): The credential hash is publicly verifiable. Personal identifiers are never exposed in public verification records.
Grant agencies: Aggregated impact data is shared with funding partners (GIZ, USAID, AfDB, etc.) in accordance with grant reporting requirements. Individual farmer data is only shared with explicit consent.
Market buyers (AgroMarket): Verified produce listings include farmer name, village, and crop details for buyer matching. Farmers consent to this at enrollment.
Legal requirements: We may disclose data to Nigerian regulatory authorities if required by law.

5. Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on secured servers in Nigeria. Audio recordings are encrypted at rest. GPS coordinates are stored with access controls. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. The iTONA platform operates on the principle of data minimisation — we collect only what is necessary for verification.

NIN (National Identification Number) is stored as a one-way cryptographic hash — we can verify a match but cannot reverse the hash to obtain the original NIN. The full NIN is never stored.

6. Your Rights

Under Nigeria's NDPR (Nigeria Data Protection Regulation) 2019 and the NDPA 2023, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data (subject to legal and contractual obligations)
Withdraw consent for data use where consent is the legal basis
Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)

7. Farmer Data — Special Protections

Farmer data collected through iTONA AFRICA is treated with heightened care. Farmers are informed in Ekiti Yoruba of what data is collected and how it will be used before enrollment. Coordinators are trained on data handling. Farmer data is never shared with commercial lenders or insurance companies without explicit written consent from the individual farmer.

8. Cookies

This website uses only a session cookie for form submission security. No tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies are set. If you use the iTONA app, a session token is stored in your browser's local storage for authentication purposes.

9. Children's Data

CANWYF does not knowingly collect personal data from persons under 18. Youth farmer data (age 18–35) is collected with standard adult consent.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our programmes develop. Material changes will be announced on this website and communicated to enrolled farmers via Coordinators. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
