Women on Record
Women do much of the farming in Ekiti, yet they are the least likely to have their name on the land, the produce or the sale. Women on Record is being designed to change that.
In design. This programme has not started yet and has no participants. It will begin when funding is in place.
What it will offer
Free training and support in four parts, with peer groups for women in each community chapter.
Document the land they farm
Mapping and recording the land women actually work, in their own name.
Register in their own right
Enrolment as farmers under their own name, with their own record.
Keep simple business records
Training to record what is grown, sold and earned.
Sell in their own name
Introductions to buyers directly, not through a relative.
Why it matters
Through iTONA Africa we already enrol women as farmers in their own right. Women on Record will go further, helping women document their land and their business and deal with buyers directly.
Fund the first group
If your organisation supports women’s economic empowerment or land documentation, we would like to talk.
